  1. Your Rangehood is making loud sounds

Like with every other motor operated appliance you can always hear when they are in use, quietly. The level of this sound should be consistent though. But if you notice your rangehood getting louder over time, your motor may be approaching the end of its life. If you’ve given your rangehood a proper clean (read here for a cleaning guide: https://www.leemac.com.au/news/article/1413/cleaning-&-maintenance-of-yourrangehood.html  ), and it’s still noisy - it may be time to contact your preferred repair service or us directly and find out whether your hood needs refurbishing or replacing.

  2. Your Rangehood has stopped sucking

Noticing a steamier kitchen than usual? Give your Rangehood a good clean - the filters, fan and fittings that you can easily access, making sure they are free from oil, grease and dust. Allow to dry, and then test. If you are using charcoal filters they may need replacing. We generally recommend to replace carbon filters every 3-6 months depending on your cooking habits. If your Rangehood is ducted to the outside you should also have a look at the ducting. Make sure that the duct connections are still tight and the material is not deteriorated or damaged. If this doesn’t solve the problem of the low suction power, then a replacement may be in order.

  3. High build-up of oil inside the rangehood

People come to us asking how to properly clean their Rangehood after noticing an oil build up inside. This may have happened over years when the Rangehood was used by various owners who might not have cleaned or changed filters regularly. It can also be caused by not using the hood properly over time. Please be aware that this build-up of oil presents a high fire hazard! There might be oil throughout the motor, the ducting and possibly even in the switches. Our recommendation in this case is to replace the Rangehood as soon as possible.
